There are many things to consider when making a selection.  Where is the hotel located?  Is it in a good part of town and what is the local neighbourhood like?  The hotel may be great inside, have really amazing rooms and a fantastic restaurant but if you are in the middle of nowhere or in a ‘war zone’ then it could lose some of its attraction.  There are plenty of hotel review websites available online these days where independent comments and opinions are offered by people who have experienced a hotel at first hand.  Often these review site rate the hotel on a scale of 1 to 10 or on a 1 to 5 star basis.

You may want to consider the accessibility of the hotel in terms of public transport links and closeness to shops, restaurants and amenities.  Is the hotel close to any of London’s famous buildings for example, can you walk there and how far is the nearest underground station?
